Clay pigeon shooting is something everyone has heard of, good or bad. The fact is until you give it a try you will never know what all the fuss is about.
“I’ll try anything once, twice if I like it, three times to make sure”. Mae West. Well after your 3rd time we are pretty sure it will confirm your thoughts that you love shooting. English sporting as its commonly referred to, is not just a sport, it is a way of life. A true passion and the only way you will understand why I am saying this is to try it. But on one condition only, don’t blame us if this takes over your life and you become obsessed with hitting every clay, as you start to travel around the country competing with the worlds best.
Anyone can hit a clay target, the less experience you have the better you will be at this, as your natural hand to eye coordination will take over and hit the clay for you. If you have shot before your brain will take over and tell you where you should hit the target. The fascination with shooting clays is that it’s very easy, but hitting 100/100 is such a challenge it will keep you hooked for years to achieve this milestone.
Holding a shotgun (a fine piece of art crafted by a master craftsman) is just part of the experience. Loading the gun with two cartridges, closing the gun and taking aim, with the confidence to take a shot. Whether its a hit, a miss behind, a miss in front, the challenge is on. The next shot with your overthinking as to where to aim, taking into consideration previous mistakes. Again, and again, adjusting each shot, to understand where the mistakes were made before. This constant process is what gets you addicted to this sport. A goal that is ultimately achievable but challenging enough to keep you trying.
The sense of achievement and that cheeky smile you’re trying to hide from nearby spectators is second to none. To achieve this experience your first barrier is just having a go. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, could not be more a more apt analogy here. Countless people have tried and continued their success in this sport.
Throughout life, we are offered opportunities to further our knowledge and understanding. Choosing an experience day with us will tick a bucket list item you never knew existed. Once you have enjoyed the day you will understand this should have been the first thing on your list. The shooting side is just 50% of the fun. The banter, support and of course mocking from fellow shooters is the other 50% of the experience.
From taking your first experience the next stage will be a shotgun certificate and then on to your first gun. In all of these areas we have an experienced team to help you all the way. With advice about the application process, to the process of selecting your first gun, we can help you all the way. Without any prejudice of the hard sale from a gunshop, we can advise you of what gun you should purchase based on your shooting style.
